Arson Attempt Reported at Grameen Bank Branch in Manikganj
An attempt was made to set fire to a branch of Grameen Bank at Baradia Bazar in Shibalaya upazila of Manikganj.
According to reports, late on Sunday night unidentified individuals set fire to the front gate of the bank and fled. With the help of local residents, bank employees quickly brought the fire under control. Although there was no major damage, the incident spread panic in the area.
On Monday morning, burn marks and charred wood were found in front of the bank’s gate. Four officials and one office assistant were on the third floor of the bank building on Sunday night.
Police believe the attempted arson may have taken place between 2:00 am and 5:00 am. Upon receiving the information, Shibalaya police visited the scene and collected evidence.
Shibalaya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Aman Ullah said that Branch Manager Mahbubur Rahman has filed a case. The incident is being investigated with utmost importance. Those responsible will be identified and legal action will be taken.
