Four Killed in Clash Between Two Groups in Narail

Four people, including a father and son, were killed in a clash between two groups over dominance in Narail Sadar.

 

The incident took place around 5:00 am on Monday in Barokula village of Singasholpur Union under the Sadar upazila, said Officer-in-Charge Oli Mia of the Sadar Police Station.

 

The deceased were identified as Khalil Sheikh (55), his son Tahazzad Sheikh (35), Ferdous (33), and former Union Parishad chairman Osibur Mia (65), all residents of Barokula village.

 

Superintendent of Police Mohammad Al Mamun Shikder said there had been an ongoing dispute over local dominance between supporters of two former chairmen of Singasholpur Union, Khayer Molla and Ujjal Sheikh.

 

As a continuation of the dispute, supporters of Khayer Molla attacked supporters of Ujjal Sheikh during sehri time on Monday.

 

In the attack, a father, son, and nephew from one group were killed. One person from the rival group was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Officer-in-Charge Oli Mia said five to six more people were also injured in the incident.

 

Police have been deployed in the village to bring the situation under control. Legal proceedings are ongoing, he added.
