Young Man Beaten to Death Over Robbery Allegation, Motorcycle Set on Fire
A young man (26) was beaten to death on allegations of robbery in Jalkuri of Narayanganj. During the incident, locals also set a motorcycle on fire. The incident occurred on Sunday (March 8) at around 7:00 am in the Koroitola area of Jalkuri.
The identity of the deceased could not be immediately known.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, in the morning three young men arrived on a motorcycle and tried to rob a pedestrian by stopping him. Locals attempted to catch them. At that time two of them fled the scene by running away. However, the other one was beaten by an angry mob and died on the spot. A motorcycle that was with him was set on fire by the locals. Later, police arrived after receiving the news and recovered the body. The body has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for an autopsy.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station Abdul Barik said, “Police went to the scene after receiving news of the death of a robber in mob beating and recovered the body. The identity of the deceased could not be known. Efforts are underway to identify him.”
