A mild cold wave, the first of the season, is currently sweeping over the districts of Jashore, Chuadanga, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, and Nilphamari, and it may continue on Saturday as well, according to indications from the Meteorological Department.
Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said on Friday morning that the mild cold wave affecting Jashore, Chuadanga, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, and Nilphamari is the first cold wave of the season. Such weather conditions may persist for the next 24 hours.
The Meteorological Department reported that the lowest temperature in the country during the past 24 hours until Friday morning was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius in Jashore.
In Chuadanga, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.6 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature in Baghabari of Rajshahi and Dimla of Nilphamari was recorded at 10 degrees Celsius.
A cold wave is classified as severe when the minimum temperature over a large area falls below 6 degrees Celsius; moderate when it ranges between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius; and mild when it remains between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius.
In its 120-hour forecast issued on Friday morning, the Meteorological Department stated that from Friday to Tuesday, the sky may remain temporarily partly cloudy. Dry weather may prevail across the country.
