The intensity of winter has increased further across the country, including Dhaka. As temperatures have dropped significantly during the early morning and night, severe cold is being felt in many areas. Dense fog and cold winds are disrupting normal daily life, increasing public hardship. Children, the elderly, and working-class people are suffering the most. The lack of adequate winter protection measures has worsened the difficulties faced by low-income communities. In many areas, vehicular movement has also been hampered during the morning hours.
Today, Sunday (December 28), the country’s lowest temperature was recorded at 8.8 degrees Celsius in Nikli area of Kishoreganj. As a result, severe cold is being experienced in various districts of the central and northern regions.
In the capital Dhaka, the minimum temperature today was 14.3 degrees Celsius. Due to fog and cold winds during the early morning and morning hours, winter-related discomfort has increased in city life.
Meanwhile, temperatures in several districts of the country have dropped below 10 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature of 8.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Nikli of Kishoreganj, while 9.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Tetulia of Panchagarh.
On the other hand, temperatures between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius were recorded in several districts. These include Rangpur at 11.5, Dinajpur at 10.8, Saidpur at 11, Kurigram at 12, Bogura at 11.8, Naogaon at 12.2, Rajshahi at 12.6, and Ishwardi at 11 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, the minimum temperature was 13.5 degrees Celsius in Faridpur, 12.6 in Gopalganj, 13 in Madaripur, 10 in Mymensingh, 11.5 in Cumilla, 12.7 in Feni, 12.3 in Kushtia, and 12.5 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga.
The Meteorological Department has stated that the impact of the current cold wave may continue for several more days. Cold conditions are expected to intensify during the night and early morning, and fog may cause further disruptions to daily life. People have been advised to avoid going outside early in the morning unless necessary and to remain cautious while traveling.
Today’s forecast says that partly cloudy skies along with dry weather may prevail across the country. From early morning to morning, moderate to dense fog may occur in some river basin areas. Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.
According to the forecast for tomorrow, December 29, dry weather with partly cloudy skies may continue. From midnight to morning, moderate fog may form in some places over the northern regions and river basin areas. Night temperatures across the country may fall slightly, while daytime temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.
The forecast for December 30 and 31 indicates that dry weather may prevail across the country. From early morning to morning, moderate to dense fog may occur in some river basin and low-lying areas. Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.
Meanwhile, the forecast for January 1 suggests that dry weather is likely to continue across the country. Light to moderate fog may occur in river basin areas during the early morning and morning hours. Temperatures may rise slightly.
