10 Journalists Injured in Violent Attack in Narsingdi

At least 10 journalists were injured in a violent attack in the Madhabdi area of Narsingdi on Monday evening. The injured journalists are members of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) who were returning from their annual picnic with family members.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the journalists had parked their vehicles in a nearby privately managed parking area close to an amusement park. While no additional charges were demanded earlier, parking attendants later asked for extra money as the vehicles were being taken out. An argument followed, which soon escalated into a violent assault by a group of local miscreants.

During the attack, several journalists were beaten, creating panic among women and children who were present at the time. Ten journalists sustained injuries, one of whom was admitted to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, while the others were transferred to different hospitals in Dhaka for advanced treatment.

Police later detained two individuals in connection with the incident and said legal action is being prepared against those involved. Leaders of the Crime Reporters Association strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate justice, saying such incidents pose a serious threat to press freedom and journalist safety.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the security of journalists and the growing culture of violence and lawlessness in the country.
