Indian Muslim Leaders Condemn Lynching of Hindu Youth in Bangladesh

Indian Muslim religious leaders have strongly condemned the incident in which Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death in Bangladesh. Describing the incident as a “murder of humanity,” they stated that it is completely contrary to Islamic teachings.

Chief Imam of the All India Imam Organisation, Dr Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, said that the killing of Dipu Chandra Das and the treatment of his body after death were entirely inhuman and condemnable. He said, “This incident is not just the killing of one person, but a shame upon all of humanity.” At the same time, he questioned the silence of human rights organisations.

Dr Ilyasi called upon Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene in the matter and said that international-level action is necessary to stop such communal violence.

Meanwhile, President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Maulana Mahmood Madani, strongly condemned the incident, saying, “No individual has the right to kill another person outside the legal process.” He clearly stated that Islam never permits killing or humiliating anyone.

Maulana Madani expressed deep concern over the rise of extremism across the subcontinent, saying that this tendency poses a serious threat to society and must be addressed through collective efforts by people of all religions and communities.

Following the incident, condemnation and concern are increasing in various quarters in Bangladesh and India, and demands for effective measures to protect communal harmony are growing stronger.
