Protest Outside UK Parliament Demands Labour Action on Alleged Hindu Persecution in Bangladesh

A large-scale protest was held outside the UK Parliament in London, where members of the British Bangladeshi Hindu community and human rights activists gathered to demand immediate action from the Labour Party regarding the alleged persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, protesters assembled in significant numbers to voice their concerns over continued violence, discrimination, and insecurity faced by religious minorities in the South Asian nation.

The demonstration was organized by several community and advocacy groups, including representatives of Hindu organizations based in the United Kingdom. Protesters carried banners, placards, and national flags while chanting slogans that called for justice, accountability, and international intervention. Many participants stated that their purpose was to raise global awareness and urge the UK government to use diplomatic channels to pressure Bangladesh into protecting minority communities.

Speakers at the rally highlighted incidents of attacks on Hindu homes, temples, and individuals, alleging that such acts have increased in recent years. They expressed frustration over what they described as a lack of decisive international response, particularly from Western democracies that regularly speak out on human rights issues. According to the demonstrators, silence or weak statements only embolden perpetrators and further marginalize vulnerable groups.

Several protesters specifically appealed to the Labour Party leadership, urging Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s government to take a firm stance on minority rights in Bangladesh. They called for stronger diplomatic engagement, international investigations into reported abuses, and the inclusion of minority protection as a key issue in bilateral discussions.

Participants also stressed that the protest was peaceful and aimed at solidarity rather than confrontation. Families, senior citizens, and young activists took part, emphasizing that the issue affects generations and threatens cultural and religious heritage. Many attendees stated that their message was not against any nation or people, but against violence, intolerance, and injustice.

The demonstration concluded with a renewed call for global human rights organizations, international media, and democratic governments to pay closer attention to the situation in Bangladesh and ensure that religious minorities can live without fear, discrimination, or persecution.
