The United States and India have signed a new 10-year defense framework agreement designed to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation and promote regional stability, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced on Friday.
Following a meeting with Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Hegseth shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the long-term pact would serve as a cornerstone for deterrence and security across the Indo-Pacific region.
“The framework enhances coordination, information sharing, and technological collaboration between our two great democracies,” Hegseth wrote.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in Washington and New Delhi’s growing strategic partnership, especially amid increasing regional challenges in the Indo-Pacific. Analysts say the pact will likely pave the way for joint military exercises, intelligence cooperation, and advanced defense technology exchanges between the two nations.
