Trump Criticizes UN Over ‘Ineffectiveness’ in Global Affairs

U.S. President Donald Trump faced an awkward situation upon arriving to deliver his speech at the United Nations General Assembly. Accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, the president stepped onto a moving escalator at the UN headquarters, only for it to suddenly stop. The couple had to walk the rest of the way up the stairs.

Things didn’t improve once he reached the podium. The teleprompter assigned for his speech malfunctioned. Referring to both incidents during his address, Trump remarked, “The UN now feels like that broken escalator—stalled midway. Or like a broken teleprompter, unreliable and dysfunctional.”

What followed was a fiery, 56-minute-long speech—far exceeding the usual 15-minute allocation—during which Trump launched a scathing attack on the UN. He accused the organization of failing to utilize its true potential and said it had lost its effectiveness in ensuring global peace, security, and development.

Trump further criticized the UN for pressuring Western nations through its immigration policies. Addressing European countries directly, he warned, “Europe is taking a dangerous gamble by trying to remain politically correct on immigration and climate. This will only hurt them in the end.”

The president also touched on major global crises. Referring to the conflict in Gaza, he said, “This war must end, and the hostages must be released.” On the Ukraine war, he remarked, “This is perhaps the most easily solvable conflict—if only the will existed.”

Turning to the recent recognition of the State of Palestine by several nations, Trump said, “This recognition is nothing short of a reward for Hamas’s brutality. It sends the wrong message to the world.”

Highlighting what he considers to be the successes of his presidency, Trump claimed, “Under my leadership, we ended at least seven wars—each of which, frankly, could have earned a Nobel Prize. But I don’t chase awards. I’m focused on making America great.”

In conclusion, Trump urged nations to prioritize national sovereignty and energy security. “If you want to be great again,” he said, “you must secure your borders and strengthen your traditional energy resources.”
