BNP Alliance Takes Early Lead in 13th Parliamentary Polls; Key Wins in Bogura-6 and Dhaka-15

As counting continues in the 13th National Parliament election, unofficial results from 164 constituencies indicate a strong lead for the BNP-led alliance. According to the latest available figures, the BNP alliance has secured 125 seats, while the Jamaat-led alliance has won 38 seats. One seat has gone to an independent candidate. Final official confirmation from the Election Commission is still pending.

 

Tarique Rahman Wins Bogura-6

In Bogura-6 comprising 21 wards of Bogura and Sadar Upazila BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has been unofficially declared elected.

 

The Returning Officer and Bogura Deputy Commissioner, Taufiqur Rahman, announced the result at around 11:30 pm on Thursday.

 

Out of 150 polling centers, results from all centers show that Tarique Rahman, contesting with the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol, received 216,284 votes. His nearest rival, Abidur Rahman, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Bogura city unit and candidate of the 11-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, secured 97,626 votes with the “Scales” symbol.

 

Jamaat Ameer Wins Dhaka-15

In Dhaka-15, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has emerged victorious, according to party sources late Thursday night.

 

Jamaat’s election management committee member Zahidur Rahman said that Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, contesting with the “Scales” symbol, received 82,645 votes.

 

His nearest competitor, Shafiqul Islam Milton, secured 61,920 votes. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman won the seat by a margin of 20,725 votes.

 

With unofficial results still coming in, the BNP-led alliance appears poised to secure a commanding position in the new parliament. However, the final composition of the House will depend on the completion of vote counting and formal gazette notification by the Election Commission.
