Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. He posted condolence messages in both Bangla and English on his social media accounts.
In his post, Joy wrote: “I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. At this critical moment for the country, when ordinary people are suffering from a lack of security and attempts are underway to destabilize and depoliticize the nation, her passing will have a profound impact on Bangladesh’s path forward.
Despite being a victim of various depoliticization processes in the past, she achieved numerous successes throughout her long political career and formulated several important policies for the country.
Her contributions to nation-building will remain eternally memorable; however, her death is a major blow to the current efforts to stabilize Bangladesh.
My heartfelt sympathies go out to her countless supporters and well-wishers.”
It is worth mentioning that Khaleda Zia passed away early this morning at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. Her death has cast a shadow of grief over the country’s political arena. Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s condolence message is being seen as an example of empathy despite long-standing political rivalry.
