51 Political Parties Submit Nomination Papers for 13th National Parliamentary Election

Candidates from 51 political parties have submitted nomination papers for the 13th National Parliamentary Election. The information was disclosed to journalists on Tuesday (30 December) by Election Commission (EC) Public Relations Director Md. Ruhul Amin Mallik at the Election Building.

 

He said that 51 registered political parties are participating in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

 

It has been learned that a total of 2,570 candidates, including those from political parties and independents, have submitted nomination papers.

 

However, even after 24 hours of the submission deadline, the Election Commission has not been able to specify how many candidates were nominated by each party and how many are independent candidates.

 

Currently, there are 59 political parties registered with the Election Commission. The registration of the Awami League has been suspended due to a ban on its activities. In addition, the registrations of PDP, Freedom Party, and Oikyabaddha Nagorik Andolon have been cancelled.

 

According to the election schedule, scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from 30 December to 4 January 2026. Appeals against the decisions of Returning Officers can be filed from 5 January to 9 January. Appeals will be resolved between 10 and 18 January. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 20 January.

 

Returning Officers will publish the final list of candidates and allocate election symbols on 21 January. Election campaigning will begin on 22 January and can continue until 7:30 am on 10 February. Voting will take place on 12 February.
