Young man killed by cocktail thrown from Mogbazar flyover

A powerful cocktail bomb exploded in front of the Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Sangsad Central Command in the capital’s Mogbazar intersection area. In the incident, a young man named Siam (21) was killed.

On Wednesday (25 December) at around 7:10 pm, miscreants threw a cocktail bomb from the Mogbazar flyover downwards. Siam died on the spot at that time.

Siam was the son of Ali Akbar and Siju Begum of Koroni village in Dighalia upazila of Khulna. He was currently living in the 2000 Goli area of Eskaton Road. He worked at Zahid Car Decoration on Eskaton Road.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Saidur Rahman of Hatirjheel Police Station recovered the body and took it to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital at around 8:45 pm.

At the hospital, the deceased’s co-worker Md. Ahidul said, “Siam and I both work at Zahid Car Decoration. He went out around 6:30 pm to have tea and snacks in the evening. Later, we received the news that he had died.”

Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of Ramna Division of DMP, Masud Alam, said that one or more individuals threw a powerful cocktail bomb from the flyover. It is suspected that the cocktail fell directly on the head of Siam (the deceased). As a result, Siam died on the spot. The incident is under investigation.
