The 1001 progressive teachers of Bangladesh’s public universities have rejected the fabricated and farcical engineered verdict in the false and staged case against Sheikh Hasina.
In a statement, they said, “We observe with deep anger and sorrow that through a politically motivated process, the International Crimes Tribunal has delivered a verdict against Sheikh Hasina, the successful Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the President of the Bangladesh Awami League, the organization that led the Liberation War and the struggle for independence. This verdict is farcical and unacceptable. The International Crimes Tribunal has now assumed the form of a kangaroo court through its authoritarian, biased, and justice-defying actions, as well as through fabricated witness testimony.”
Inspired by the ideals of Bangabandhu and the spirit of independence and the Liberation War, the millions of people of this country have rejected such hateful, conspiratorial, and predetermined verdicts against Sheikh Hasina, the architect of a modern and prosperous Bangladesh.
We, the progressive teacher community who believe in the spirit of independence and the Liberation War, express solidarity with the people of Bangladesh and reject the kangaroo court’s farcical verdict with contempt.
