Only 15 Days of Fuel Left in Bangladesh Amid Global Crisis

Due to the war situation in the Middle East, a global fuel crisis has emerged. Its impact is also being felt in Bangladesh. After analyzing the current situation, the government has announced that new fuel prices will be set on Tuesday (March 31) to maintain stability in fuel management.

At a press conference held at the Secretariat, Joint Secretary of the Energy Division Monir Hossain Chowdhury stated that the country currently has a total stock of 192,919 metric tons of fuel. Of this, diesel accounts for 128,939 metric tons, octane 7,940 metric tons, petrol 11,431 metric tons, and jet fuel 44,609 metric tons.

Officials from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) said that this stock will be sufficient to meet the country’s demand for the next 15 to 16 days. They also mentioned that several fuel-carrying vessels are expected to arrive in the country within this period. Therefore, there is no immediate risk of a fuel shortage in the country.

Government officials said that although there is volatility in the global market, the domestic supply situation remains under control. However, price adjustment has become necessary as import costs are increasing due to rising oil prices in the international market.
