Police arrested him on Monday night (17 November) from the South Ketranga area of Parshuram upazila in Feni. On Tuesday (18 November) afternoon, he was sent to jail through the court.
Kamrul Hasan is the son of Sujayet Khan Chhuttu Mia of South Ketranga village in Parshuram upazila of Feni and a second-year student at Khandal School and College.
Police said Kamrul is involved in the activities of the banned student organization Chhatra League. They further claimed he has connections with leaders of the banned Awami League. He made TikTok videos on the roadside using political songs and posted them on his Facebook account. In addition, Kamrul is an accused in a case filed over a political clash on 3 April at Boxmahmud Bazar.
Kamrul’s father, Sujayet Khan Chhuttu Mia, said his son is a second-year student at Khandal School and College and has no involvement in politics. He said the police arrested him merely for making a TikTok video using the song “Joy Bangla Jitbe Abar Nouka” and posting it on Facebook.
Regarding the matter, Parshuram Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Nurul Hakim said, “The arrested youth is involved in the politics of the banned organization Chhatra League. He was planning acts of sabotage in the area. He is also an accused in a case filed over a political clash.”
