Security Tightened at US Embassy in Dhaka Following Threat Alert

Security has been significantly heightened at the US Embassy in Dhaka following credible intelligence regarding a possible attack. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has deployed its specialised SWAT unit to the embassy premises to address the potential threat.

According to law enforcement, the decision was made after authorities received specific information about a planned attack targeting the embassy. The DMP’s SWAT team, known for handling high-risk operations, is equipped with advanced tactical gear and weaponry to respond to such threats.

Masud Alam, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of DMP’s Gulshan Division, confirmed to Jago News on Tuesday that security has been intensified in the area surrounding the embassy amid serious concerns over potential risks.

A police source revealed that a group was allegedly planning an attack on the US Embassy. Based on its internal investigation, the embassy identified three Bangladeshi nationals who are suspected of involvement. The embassy reportedly obtained their names, addresses, and photographs, which were then shared with the DMP to assist in preventive measures.

Intelligence officials stated that enhanced security measures began at around 9:00 PM on Monday. Since then, law enforcement agencies—including DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) units—have been maintaining a heightened state of vigilance. A heavy law enforcement presence remains deployed in and around the embassy to ensure maximum security.
