Sharif Omar bin Hadi, brother of Sharif Osman Hadi, the convener of Inquilab Mancha, has said that the government “cannot evade responsibility” for his brother’s killing.
He said, “Compared to Osman Hadi alive, martyr Osman Hadi is returning among us many times stronger. Crores of people of Bangladesh are waiting for justice for Osman Hadi.
“I would like to tell the government—Osman Hadi was killed while you were in state power. You cannot evade responsibility for this murder. You too will be tried. Whether today or ten years later, you will have to stand in the dock.”
Omar Hadi was speaking on Tuesday afternoon at a program titled ‘Shaheedi Shapath’ held at Shahbagh in Dhaka.
Claiming that attempts are being made to derail the election following the killing of Hadi, he said, “If you think that in two months you will leave state power and go abroad, remember this—the people of this country will put you in the dock.
“So I urge the government to present the killers before us immediately, so that the election environment is not disrupted. Punish the killers. You yourselves had Osman Hadi killed, and now you are trying to use this as an issue to derail the election. We will never allow that to happen.”
Hadi’s brother further said, “Osman Hadi had said that elections must be held in the country in February, and he had taken to the field preparing for that election. But by killing him, attempts are being made to obstruct the election.”
Alleging that even after six days of the killing the government has shown “no visible progress,” he said, “We have only one demand from the government: present the entire killer network of martyr Osman Hadi before the nation.”
