An attempt to carry out an attack was made by detonating crude bombs at the field of the Alinagar School and College polling center in Bhola Sadar upazila. As a result, voting at that center has been temporarily suspended.
The incident occurred today, Thursday (February 12), at around 12:15 pm. As of 12:45 pm, when this report was written, voting at the center remained suspended.
The presiding officer of the center, Md. Omar Faruk, said that around 12:15 pm a group of people detonated bombs and entered the center, harassing many of those on duty there. However, they could not cause any major damage. Voting has been suspended following the incident.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhola Sadar Model Police Station, Md. Monirul Islam, said that a group of people entered the center and attempted to take ballot papers.
He said he had heard that one person was detained there. An executive magistrate is present at the scene and they will take necessary action.
