Moinuddin Elected DCAB President, Kayes Named General Secretary

AKM Moinuddin, Special Correspondent of the news agency UNB, has been elected President, and Imrul Kayes, Special Correspondent of Bangla Vision, has been elected General Secretary of the newly formed Executive Committee of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) for 2026.

 

On Wednesday (7 December), following the organization’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election held at the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro auditorium in Banglamotor of the capital, the 11-member new Executive Committee was announced.

 

In the newly elected committee, Abida Sultana Mukta, Diplomatic Correspondent of Desh Television, was elected Vice President. Morshed Hasib Hasan, Special Correspondent of Channel Twenty Four, was elected Joint General Secretary unopposed. Nahid Hossain, Special Correspondent of Alap Dot News, was elected Office Secretary, and Rubayet Hasan, Senior Reporter of Deepto Television, was elected Treasurer.

 

The following were elected as Executive Members of the committee: Bashir Ahmed, Special Correspondent of the daily Amar Desh; Panth Rahman, Special Correspondent of Channel i; Atikur Rahman, Diplomatic Correspondent of the daily Jababdihi; Khurram Zaman, Special Correspondent of Amader Notun Shomoy; and M A K Zilani, Diplomatic Correspondent of Shomoyer Alo.

 

Earlier, the Annual General Meeting was held with outgoing committee President AKM Moinuddin in the chair. At the meeting, General Secretary Arifuzzaman Mamun and Treasurer Morshed Hasib Hasan presented the organization’s annual report.

 

Chief Election Commissioner and former AP Bureau Chief Farid Hossain, and Election Commissioner and Advisory Editor of The Daily Times of Bangladesh Ilias Khan, announced the election results after counting the votes.
