Six expatriates have been arrested by Bahrain police for posting in support of Iran on the social media platform Facebook regarding the ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran. Among them, one is a Bangladeshi citizen. The remaining five are reported to be Pakistani nationals.
The name of the arrested Bangladeshi is Mohammad Israfil Mir.
On Monday (March 9), this information was confirmed by the Bahrain News Agency citing sources from Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior.
They were arrested by the Anti-Cybercrime Directorate under the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security in Bahrain.
According to a report by the Bahrain News Agency, “Six Asian nationals were identified and arrested for recording, publishing, or resharing videos related to the aftermath of Iran’s aggression. The accused expressed sympathy for those hostile acts in the videos, which was considered behavior capable of disrupting the country’s security and public order.”
The country’s Ministry of Interior said, “Necessary legal measures have been taken against them and the accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution.”
