Early Wednesday morning, the capital city experienced a wave of violence as several cocktail grenades were detonated at different locations, followed by arson attacks on multiple buses. The incidents caused widespread fear, disrupted transportation, and prompted an immediate law enforcement response.

According to eyewitnesses, explosions occurred at strategic points including Mirpur, Khilgaon, Agargaon, and near major flyovers. The blasts were reported between 6:40 pm and 7:00 pm, creating panic among local residents. Authorities have confirmed that no casualties were reported from the grenade attacks, although property damage occurred in several areas.

Shortly before and after the grenade blasts, buses were set on fire at multiple locations in the city. Arson attacks were reported near Shahjadpur, in front of BRAC University in Badda, Dhanmondi outside a hospital, and at Jatrabari, where a Rayda Line bus was engulfed in flames. These attacks disrupted public transportation, leaving commuters stranded and traffic congested across major routes.

Law enforcement agencies immediately responded by increasing security measures across the city. Police and paramilitary units, including Border Guard contingents, were deployed to high-risk areas, bus terminals, and busy thoroughfares. Officers have been conducting sweeps around party offices, major intersections, and entrance points to the city. Cyber monitoring teams were tasked with tracking potential social media incitement related to the attacks.

City officials emphasized that the public should remain calm while security forces continue their operations. “We are taking all necessary precautions to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of citizens,” said a senior police official. Authorities also called on citizens to report any suspicious activities immediately.

The violent incidents coincide with a period of heightened political tension, and the government has urged political parties and groups to avoid provocative actions. Security authorities stated that investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
