LPG Becomes More Expensive

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder from Tk 1,215 to Tk 1,253. Additionally, the price of autogas has been raised from Tk 55.58 to Tk 57.32.

 

The commission announced the new prices on Tuesday (2 December). The prices will take effect from 6 pm.

 

The price of the 12.5-kg cylinder supplied by state-owned LPG companies has been kept unchanged at Tk 825. Not only the 12-kg cylinder, but the prices of LPG cylinders starting from 5 kg, 12.5 kg to 45 kg have also been increased.

 

The price of a 12.5-kg LPG cylinder has been set at Tk 1,305, the 15-kg cylinder at Tk 1,566, the 16-kg cylinder at Tk 1,671, the 18-kg cylinder at Tk 1,880, the 20-kg cylinder at Tk 2,088, the 22-kg cylinder at Tk 2,298, the 25-kg cylinder at Tk 2,610, the 30-kg cylinder at Tk 3,133, the 33-kg cylinder at Tk 3,446, the 35-kg cylinder at Tk 3,654, and the 45-kg cylinder at Tk 4,699.

 

Meanwhile, starting Tuesday, the price of LPG supplied in liquid form through the centrally used reticulated system in households has been increased from Tk 216.60 per kg to Tk 223.80 per kg.

 

In a notification, BERC stated that for the month of December, considering Saudi Aramco’s declared Saudi CP of USD 495 per metric ton for propane and USD 485 per metric ton for butane, and the 35:65 ratio of propane to butane, the average Saudi CP per metric ton stands at USD 488.50. Based on this, the prices of private LPG and autogas have been adjusted for December.

 

Earlier, in November, the price of LPG was reduced by Tk 26 to Tk 1,215. At the same time, the price of autogas was decreased by Tk 1.19 to Tk 55.58.
