Fire Breaks Out in Cargo Area of Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport

A fire broke out in the cargo area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday (October 18) at around 2:15 PM, according to Kawser Mahmud, spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).

 

He stated that immediately after the incident, the airport’s fire section, Bangladesh Air Force fire unit, and other relevant agencies rushed to the scene and jointly began efforts to bring the fire under control. All flight operations at the airport currently remain normal.

 

He also urged everyone to stay safe and alert. A detailed report will be provided upon completion of the operation.

 

Talha Bin Jasim, an officer at the Fire Service Headquarters, told reporters that they received the fire alert at around 2:30 PM. Five units of the fire service are currently working at the scene.
