Liberation War Affairs Minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has said that the Liberation War is the fundamental basis of Bangladesh’s birth. According to him, it would not be appropriate to equate other movements and struggles with the Liberation War.
He made the remarks on Sunday while presiding over an exchange of views meeting with members of the National Freedom Fighters Council (Jamuka) at the conference room of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
According to a ministry press release, Hafiz Uddin said, “For a long time, the history and spirit of the Liberation War have been misused to such an extent that the younger generation has been deprived of knowing the correct history. Many of our new generation do not know the immense sacrifices and endurance through which freedom fighters secured Bangladesh’s independence.”
He further said, “We must remember that the Liberation War is the fundamental foundation of the birth of this state.”
The press release also stated that several important decisions were taken at the meeting regarding the verification of the list of genuine freedom fighters and the preservation of accurate history.
Ministry Secretary Israt Chowdhury, members of Jamuka, and senior officials of the ministry were present at the meeting.
