Due to the ongoing security situation in the Middle East surrounding Israel’s attack on Iran, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has temporarily suspended flights to all destinations in the region. All its flights to Middle Eastern destinations including Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, Riyadh, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait and other regional destinations will remain suspended until further notice.
In a press release issued this Saturday afternoon, Biman announced the information. The statement further said that passengers scheduled to travel to these destinations are requested not to go to the airport without directly contacting the airline.
Meanwhile, in a separate press release this afternoon, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh said that following Israel’s attack on Iran, the airspace of several Middle Eastern countries including Bahrain, Kuwait, Dubai, and Qatar has been temporarily closed. The respective civil aviation authorities of those countries have taken this decision.
According to the Civil Aviation press release, several scheduled commercial flights on the affected Middle Eastern routes have been canceled, delayed, or rescheduled.
In this situation, the authority of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has issued certain instructions to the concerned airlines. The instructions state that information regarding flight cancellations or delays must be communicated to passengers in advance via SMS, email, and call centers. Additionally, airline staff must remain present at the airport to ensure necessary information and guidance for passengers. Clear and coordinated information regarding rescheduled flights has also been emphasized to avoid inconvenience.
The airport authority has advised passengers planning to travel on the mentioned routes to urgently contact their respective airline offices or travel agencies to verify the current status of their flights and take necessary measures.
It has also been stated that the situation is being closely monitored. Until further notice, the authority has sought the coordinated cooperation of all concerned to ensure passenger safety and operational normalcy.
