The government has deployed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Dhaka and adjoining districts to maintain law and order following incidents of vehicles being set on fire by unidentified individuals.
According to officials, a total of 14 platoons of BGB have been dispatched — 12 within Dhaka city and 2 in nearby districts. The deployment aims to strengthen security and prevent any untoward incidents amid growing political tension.
BGB personnel have been positioned in key areas including the Airport, Dhanmondi-32, Kakrail, the High Court area, Abrar Fahad Avenue, and around Hotel Intercontinental.
The move comes in response to recent reports of arson attacks on buses and other vehicles in different parts of Dhaka, Gazipur, and surrounding regions. Authorities said the deployment is a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and keep the situation under control.
