Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Expresses Condolences over the Death of Khaleda Zia

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the death of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. Narendra Modi conveyed this condolence in a message posted on social media platform X on Tuesday (30 December). Indian news outlet NDTV reported the news.

 

On X, Narendra Modi wrote, “We extend our deepest condolences to Khaleda Zia’s family and the people of Bangladesh. May the Almighty give her family the strength to bear this tragic loss.”

 

“Khaleda Zia’s significant contributions to Bangladesh’s development as the country’s first female Prime Minister, as well as to strengthening India–Bangladesh relations, will always be remembered,” Modi said.

 

Prime Minister Modi recalled his warm meeting with Khaleda Zia during his visit to Dhaka in 2015. Modi further said, “I remember my warm meeting with her in Dhaka in 2015. We hope that her vision and legacy will continue to guide our mutual partnership in the future.”

 

At the end, the Indian Prime Minister prayed for peace for Khaleda Zia’s departed soul, saying, “May Khaleda Zia’s soul rest in peace.”
