Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus held a coordination meeting on Saturday evening with the heads of Bangladesh’s Army, Navy, and Air Force to discuss nationwide security measures for the upcoming national elections.
The meeting, held at the State Guest House Jamuna around 7 p.m., focused on ensuring a peaceful and well-organized election environment, according to a statement from the Chief Advisor’s Office.
Those present included Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral Md Nazmul Hasan, and Air Force Chief Air Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan.
During the discussion, the military chiefs briefed the Chief Advisor on their respective forces’ preparations and deployment strategies for the February 2025 polls. Yunus instructed them to take all necessary steps to maintain law, order, and voter confidence throughout the election period.
Praising the armed forces for their “dedicated service and discipline” over the past 15 months, Yunus said the interim administration’s priority was to guarantee a free, fair, and peaceful election across the country.
As part of the plan, roughly 90,000 soldiers, 2,500 naval personnel, and 1,500 air force members will be mobilized, with each Upazila receiving one company of army troops to reinforce local security.
The three service chiefs also invited the Chief Advisor to attend the upcoming Armed Forces Day celebrations scheduled for November 21.
