Saudi Arabia has announced new changes to its Umrah visa regulations, reducing the validity period before entry from three months to 30 days, according to Al Arabiya.
Under the revised policy, Umrah visas will automatically expire 30 days after issuance if the pilgrim does not enter the Kingdom within that time frame. The update is expected to come into effect next week, the state-owned broadcaster reported on Thursday.
However, authorities confirmed that the permitted duration of stay for pilgrims after entering Saudi Arabia remains unchanged at three months.
Ahmed Bajaeifer, advisor to the National Committee for Umrah and Visit, said the decision is part of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s efforts to prepare for an anticipated increase in Umrah pilgrims as temperatures in Makkah and Madinah cool down following the summer season.
“The new measure will help authorities manage the growing crowds and ensure a smoother experience for pilgrims in the two holy cities,” Bajaeifer said.
According to Al Arabiya, more than four million Umrah visas have already been issued to international pilgrims since the new Umrah season began in early June. This season has recorded unprecedented numbers of visitors within just five months of its launch, reflecting a sharp rise compared to previous years.
