Rice Trader, Jubo League Leader Hacked to Death in Trishal Shop

A rice trader was hacked to death inside his shop in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh. After killing him, the assailants left the body inside the shop and closed the shutter before fleeing.

 

The incident took place around 11:00 pm on Monday night at Bogar Bazar intersection of the upazila, said Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Firoz Hossain.

 

The deceased was identified as Susen Chandra Sarkar (62), owner of Messrs Bhai Bhai Enterprise at Bogar Bazar intersection and a resident of Southkanda village of the upazila. He was also the President of Hariram Union Ward No. 6 Jubo League of Trishal upazila.

 

OC Firoz said that around 11:00 pm, unidentified assailants hacked him on the head with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot. After the murder, they left the body inside the shop and closed the shutter before leaving. Family members later opened the shutter while searching for him and found him lying in a pool of blood.

 

He was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

 

The victim’s son, Sujon Sarkar, said, “We have been in the rice business for a long time. We had no enmity with anyone. After brutally killing my father, the criminals took several lakh taka from the shop.”

 

He demanded the immediate identification of the killers and exemplary punishment.
