The body of Momin Khan, a missing Chhatra League activist, was recovered today, Wednesday, December 3rd, from the Turag River—four days after he went missing—following an Awami League protest rally in Dhaka’s Diabari area on November 30th against the verdict of the interim government’s tribunal.
The body was recovered exactly four days after he went missing.
The deceased, Momin Khan (approximately 30 years old), was a resident of Dhanbari upazila in Tangail. Alongside a small job at a private organization in Dhaka, he actively took part in various Awami League and Chhatra League programs. He leaves behind a wife and a young child.
According to the family, on his way home after the rally, Momin was picked up by individuals identifying themselves as DB police. Later, he was brutally killed and his body was dumped into the Turag River. After extensive searching and with the help of locals, his body was finally recovered from the river today.
A shadow of grief has engulfed the entire area since the incident.
The family has strongly demanded that the perpetrators be identified and given exemplary punishment through a swift and impartial investigation.
So far, no official statement has been received from the police or administration regarding the matter.
