In preparation for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Friday announced its election manifesto at a grand event held at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital. The manifesto was unveiled by the party’s Chairman, Tarique Rahman.
Speaking at the event, which began at 3:30 pm, BNP leaders said that the manifesto has been formulated with a focus on the rights and development of the people of the country. They stated that nine priority areas would be implemented under this manifesto.
The manifesto states that if elected to power, the government will work to build a “humane, inclusive, and accountable” state, giving the highest priority to combating corruption, establishing the rule of law, and ensuring citizens’ fundamental rights.
The key promises outlined in the manifesto include:
Family Card: Ensuring monthly cash assistance or distribution of goods of equivalent value to marginalized and low-income families across the country.
Farmer Card: Expanding support for farmers and small-scale cultivators through easy loans, subsidies, and insurance facilities.
Healthcare: Recruitment of one hundred thousand new healthcare workers nationwide and expansion of quality medical services.
Education: Introduction of a skills- and values-based education policy, expansion of primary education, and implementation of a “mid-day meal” program.
Employment for Youth: Support for startups, skills development, and inclusion in the global e-commerce ecosystem.
Environment and Climate: Re-excavation of rivers and canals, plantation of tens of millions of trees, and establishment of modern waste management systems.
Religious and Social Harmony: Provision of honorariums and training-based support for religious leaders of all places of worship.
Digital Economy: Introduction of international payment systems, development of local e-commerce, and expansion of exports of domestic products.
The event was attended by the party’s Secretary General along with other central leaders. The manifesto was presented not only as an electoral pledge but also as a long-term state development plan.
