Fakhrul Protests Government’s Rush to Pass Two New Laws

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the interim government is trying to hurriedly pass two laws.

He made this comment in a statement sent to the media on Friday (28 November) night.

The BNP Secretary General said, “From reliable sources we have learned that the current interim government is trying to hurriedly pass two laws. One is the amended Police Commission Act and the other is the NGO-related Act. We believe that the government has a different motive behind passing these laws before the election, which will hinder the path of democratic transition.”

Mirza Fakhrul said, “Without the mandate of the people, it would not be appropriate to hastily pass such important laws.”

He said, “We believe that the above-mentioned laws should be formulated in the next national parliament through logical debate. We urge the government to refrain from taking such steps.”
