A Jubo Dal leader named Murad Hossain Khan (36) was hacked to death in Khulna. The killing took place in front of the Senhati Teacher Training Center (TTC) in Dighalia upazila at around 5:30 pm on Friday (27 February).
The deceased Murad Khan was the son of Khan Monsur Ahmed of Hajigram in Dighalia upazila and served as the Senior Joint Convener of Senhati Union Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He was involved in the sand business.
The incident was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge Md. Shah Alam of Dighalia Police Station.
Sources at Khulna Medical College Hospital said that Murad suffered repeated hacking injuries below both knees, and the tendons of both legs were severed. There were also signs of physical assault on his body.
According to local sources, at around 4:30 pm Murad left Daulatpur in the city after finishing business work and was heading to his village home. When he reached in front of the Senhati Boro Bari TTC, miscreants attacked him. While taking him away on an easy-bike, they repeatedly stabbed him with sharp knives, killing him. Those involved in the killing are identified as known criminals in the area.
Relatives of the deceased, speaking in front of the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Department at Khulna Medical College Hospital, said that Sajjad, Sojib, and their brothers of Boxibari village in Senhati first brutally beat Murad while he was fasting. Later, after Murad was freed from them and got onto an easy-bike, they hacked him to death with sharp weapons.
