No Government Restrictions on Tarique Rahman’s Return to Bangladesh
Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, has commented that the government has no restrictions or objections regarding Tarique Rahman’s return to the country.
He stated this in a post on his verified Facebook page at around 5 p.m. on Saturday (29 November).
In the post, Shafiqul Alam wrote, “Referring to Mr. Tarique Rahman’s statement today that the opportunity to decide on his return to the country is not entirely open or solely under his control at this moment, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Mr. Shafiqul Alam, was asked whether there are any restrictions from the government regarding his return to Bangladesh.”
Responding to this, the Press Secretary wrote, “There are no restrictions or any sort of objection from the government’s side in this matter.”
He further mentioned that the Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has already expressed deep concern over the physical condition of Begum Khaleda Zia and has asked the nation to pray for her.
