The air ambulance scheduled to transport BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to London will not be arriving in Dhaka on Tuesday (9 December).
Although the air ambulance was supposed to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, a request has been made to cancel the previously granted permission.
The information was confirmed by an official of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). He said that Germany-based FAI Aviation Group has formally applied, through its local coordinating agency, to withdraw the earlier slot approval.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune, the CAAB official said, “We will forward the cancellation request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for necessary action.”
However, Shahjalal International Airport’s Executive Director SM Ragib Samad told Bangla Tribune that he has not yet received any official notice regarding the air ambulance’s cancellation.
Earlier, based on an initial application submitted by the operator on Sunday (7 December), permission had been granted for the aircraft to land at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and depart at around 9 p.m. the same day.
