Khaleda Zia’s Trip to London Not Happening Before Sunday
Due to a technical glitch in the aircraft, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s departure for London for medical treatment has been pushed back by one day. The special air ambulance sent by the Amir of Qatar to transport her could not arrive in Dhaka at the scheduled time on Friday (5 December).
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “Due to a technical fault, the air ambulance is not coming on Friday. If everything goes well, it may arrive on Saturday. If Madam’s physical condition is fit for travel and the medical board gives its decision, then Inshallah she will fly on the 7th (Sunday).”
Earlier, since Thursday night, political circles had been abuzz over Khaleda Zia’s planned trip to London. Although all preparations were completed, on Friday morning the Secretary General informed the media that there had been a change in the travel plans.
Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia’s daughter-in-law, Zubaida Rahman, is coming to Dhaka to accompany her to London. BNP Media Cell member Atiqur Rahman Ruman said that she is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at 10:53 am on Friday morning on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from London. “From there she will go directly to Evercare Hospital,” he said.
