Protesting Activists Take to the Streets in Chattogram; Road Blockade in Magura

Severe anger and agitation have erupted in Chattogram and Magura over the BNP’s nomination of candidates for the upcoming national election. Leaders and activists who were denied nominations are expressing their frustration openly and have taken to the streets at the local level.

In Chattogram, BNP activists deprived of nomination have become furious. They allege that despite working for the party for many years, they were suddenly excluded from the nomination list. This has created disappointment and resentment among them. Local leaders say the nomination process lacked transparency and that many qualified candidates were dropped due to decisions made by the central leadership. As a result, the deprived activists have launched protests and demonstrated at the party office.

Those deprived claim that their long-standing contributions to the party have been ignored. They warn that excluding capable candidates in this manner will create division among grassroots leaders and activists, which may negatively affect the campaign on the ground.

Meanwhile, in Magura-2 constituency, local BNP leaders and activists have blocked roads demanding a change in the declared candidate. They allege that the selected nominee is not locally acceptable and has weak connections with grassroots activists. Therefore, they believe he will not be able to play an effective role during the election campaign.

The protesters blocked roads, chanted slogans, and demanded an immediate replacement of the candidate. According to them, announcing candidates without considering grassroots opinion will lead to negative electoral results. They warned the central leadership that the movement will intensify if a locally acceptable candidate is not chosen.

The incidents in Chattogram and Magura indicate unrest and division within the BNP. Anger is growing due to allegations of a lack of transparency in the nomination process and the disregard of grassroots opinion. Political analysts say that such internal instability may pose a major challenge for the BNP ahead of the election.
