A Series of Cocktail Explosions and Arson Attacks in Dhaka
A surge of crude bomb (cocktail) explosions and arson attacks on buses across the capital Dhaka in the last 24 hours has created widespread panic among the public. From late Saturday (15 November) night to Sunday (16 November) evening, more than 10 crude bomb explosions occurred in different parts of the capital, injuring one pedestrian.

Two Crude Bombs Exploded in Front of Adviser Rizwana Hasan’s Residence
Two crude bombs (cocktails) exploded consecutively in front of the residence of Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, on Central Road in the capital. The explosions occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday night. However, no one was injured in the incident.
Trial Against Sheikh Hasina: 101 Engineers Strongly Condemn
A total of 101 engineers residing in Bangladesh and abroad have strongly condemned and protested the ongoing trial process against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the International Crimes Tribunal, describing it as “farcical” and “illegal.” In a joint statement issued yesterday, they claimed that such a trial against the head of an elected government is “in violation of the Constitution, the law, and international human rights standards.”
From Jail for Wife-Beating to DC: Controversial Appointment Sparks Outrage
A man who once served jail time for beating his wife over dowry demands has now been appointed by the government as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Barishal ahead of the election. The Deputy Commissioner is responsible for overseeing overall district administration, including law and order and land affairs. The role demands prestige and integrity. However, officials in the administration have expressed astonishment at the appointment of an officer who himself lacks personal ethics. His name is Khairul Alam Suman, a 29th batch officer. He has recently been made the DC of Barishal.
Bus Arson and a Series of Cocktail Blasts Hit Dhaka and Two Nearby Districts
A series of bus fires and consecutive crude bomb (cocktail) explosions in Dhaka, Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj, and Gazipur has created nationwide unrest and concern. From Saturday (15 November) morning until late night, at least three buses were set on fire and more than 15 cocktail explosions occurred in different areas of the capital. Although no casualties were reported, questions have arisen among the public regarding the law and order situation.
