Fertilizer Supply Becomes New Concern for Bangladesh Amid Energy Crisis
The impact of the ongoing instability in the Middle East is now beginning to affect not only the energy sector but also the fertilizer market. Experts fear that import-dependent Bangladesh may face major fertilizer challenges in the future due to uncertainty in natural gas supply in the international market, increased transportation costs, and disruptions in the supply chain.
Four State-Owned Urea Fertilizer Factories Shut for 15 Days Due to Gas Crisis
Due to the gas supply crisis in the country, production has been temporarily suspended at four state-owned urea fertilizer factories. Among the five urea factories under the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), currently only one factory remains operational.

BERC Raises Fertilizer Factory Gas Price to Tk 29.25 per Cubic Meter, Effective from December 1
The price of gas used in fertilizer factories has been increased from 16 taka to 29 taka 25 paisa per cubic meter by raising 13 taka 25 paisa. Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Jalal Ahmed has ordered this new price to be effective from December 1.
Gas Price Hike for Fertilizer Factories to Be Announced on Sunday
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) is going to announce the new gas price for fertilizer factories next Sunday (23 November). The decision will be disclosed through a press conference at 3:30 pm on that day.
