AJC Organizes Protest in New York Against Communal Attack in Khagrachari-Guimara
A protest was held at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York to condemn the alleged rape of an eighth-grade girl in Guimara, Khagrachari, and the reported violent attack and arson carried out by Bengali settlers and the Bangladesh military in Ramesu Bazar of Guimara Upazila. The protest was organized on Saturday (October 11) by the American Jummo Council (AJC).

While the protest-led blockade of key highways connecting Dhaka and Chattogram has been temporarily eased, unrest and mobility restrictions persist throughout the district. UPDF Accused by ISPR of Fueling Unrest in Khagrachari
At least three people from the national minority community were killed and dozens injured, including members of the security forces, in violent clashes in Guimara upazila of Khagrachari. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday night, the unrest was allegedly instigated by the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) and its affiliated groups, who reportedly carried out coordinated attacks and acts of arson targeting homes and shops in the area.
Violence in Khagrachari Leaves At Least Three National Minority Members Dead
Violence flared up once more in Khagrachari on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least three national minority community members. The unrest followed an ongoing blockade in the hill district, which was organised to protest the rape of a 12-year-old Marma girl.
