Attack on Journalists, Cameras Vandalized at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial
It has been alleged that six journalists were injured in an attack carried out by activists and supporters of the Swechchhasebak Dal at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur, the capital. Cameras were also vandalized during the incident.

A journalist was attacked by supporters of Sharif Osman Hadi while gathering news at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The journalist’s name is Rifat Risan. He is the Dhaka University (DU) correspondent of the private television channel Channel One.
Journalist Shawkat Mahmud Placed on Five-Day Remand

CPJ Letter Urges Muhammad Yunus to Secure Release of Imprisoned Journalists
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has urged Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, to take steps to secure the release of imprisoned journalists in the country. The nonprofit international organization working to protect journalists’ rights made the appeal in a letter addressed to Muhammad Yunus. The letter has been published on the CPJ website.
Journalist Assaulted and Arrested in Late-Night Police Raid
Police in Tangail’s Kalihati upazila have been accused of breaking into a journalist’s home in the middle of the night, assaulting him, and arresting him in a false case following the publication of a news report. On Sunday (7 December) afternoon, journalist Jahangir Alam was sent to jail through the court.
Former National Press Club President Shawkat Mahmud Detained
Former president of the National Press Club and the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), and Secretary General of Jonota Party Bangladesh, journalist Shawkat Mahmud, was detained on Sunday (7 December) by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. He was detained from in front of his residence in the capital.

DB Detains and Questions Online Editor Mizanur Rahman Sohel for 10 Hours
