LPG Gas Prices Rise Again Amid Market Volatility
Amid ongoing inflation and market instability, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has once again increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the consumer level. The price of the widely used 12-kg LPG cylinder has been raised by Tk 50 for February, setting the new price at Tk 1,356. The new price came into effect from Monday evening (February 2).
Dhaka Faces Severe Gas and LPG Shortage, Residents Struggle to Cook
The gas and LPG crisis in the capital Dhaka and nearby cities has reached alarming levels. For more than three weeks, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been unavailable in the market. Even though prices have doubled, supply has not met demand. On top of this, there is a shortage of pipeline gas. As a result, ordinary people are struggling to cook.
Solution Uncertain, LPG Crisis May Be Prolonged
Bangladesh is facing an ongoing LPG crisis as private-sector suppliers fail to meet demand and government intervention remains limited by inadequate import and bottling capacity.

The gas cylinder crisis in the country has reached an extreme stage. A cylinder with a government-fixed price of 1,306 taka is now being sold in the market at 2,500 taka. As a result, ordinary people are spending an additional 1,200 taka for each cylinder.
LPG Cylinder Sales Halted Nationwide from Today
In the context of nationwide drives and fines, the LPG Dealers’ Cooperative Society Limited has announced the suspension of the supply and sale of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders.
LPG Shortage: Tk 1,200 Cylinder Sells Above Tk 2,000
Consumers across Dhaka have been facing an acute shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), forcing many to buy cylinders at prices far higher than the government-fixed rate, creating widespread frustration and concern.
LPG Becomes More Expensive
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder from Tk 1,215 to Tk 1,253. Additionally, the price of autogas has been raised from Tk 55.58 to Tk 57.32.
