LPG Becomes More Expensive
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder from Tk 1,215 to Tk 1,253. Additionally, the price of autogas has been raised from Tk 55.58 to Tk 57.32.
Despite Strong Profits, BPC Hikes Fuel Prices While Global Oil Rates Decline
Fuel prices in the international market are gradually declining. Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has been making profits for several years. In the 2024–25 fiscal year, after deducting all expenses, BPC made a net profit of Tk 4,316 crore. In this situation, questions have been raised over the decision to increase fuel prices instead of adjusting and reducing them.
Fuel prices raised by Tk 2 per liter
Under the automatic price adjustment system in the country, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has increased the prices of all types of fuel oil by 2 taka per liter for the month of December 2025.
BERC Raises Fertilizer Factory Gas Price to Tk 29.25 per Cubic Meter, Effective from December 1
The price of gas used in fertilizer factories has been increased from 16 taka to 29 taka 25 paisa per cubic meter by raising 13 taka 25 paisa. Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Jalal Ahmed has ordered this new price to be effective from December 1.
Post-Conflict Afghanistan-Pakistan: Food Prices Soar as Public Struggles Amid Border Closure
After the closure of the border disrupted cross-border trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the prices of essential food items have skyrocketed in both countries. The escalation follows intense clashes and Pakistani airstrikes along the 2,600-kilometer border that began on October 11, causing sharp increases in food prices — particularly tomatoes and fruits.
Soybean Oil Price Increased Five Times in 13 Months
The prices of edible oils, including bottled soybean oil, have been raised once again by refiners, even though the Ministry of Commerce has not yet given its final approval. The announcement came through a press release issued by the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association on Monday.
