The Directorate General of Health Services reported symptoms of measles and the deaths of 409 people from measles.
To prevent measles infection and deaths, the government has launched a nationwide vaccination campaign. However, not all children are being brought under vaccination coverage. Based on information provided by UNICEF and verification conducted in Dhaka and outside Dhaka, such a picture has emerged. From the Rapid Convenience Monitoring (RCM) of the vaccination situation, UNICEF says that still 30 to 40 percent of children in urban areas and 15 percent of children in rural areas have not received the vaccine.
According to information from the report of the Directorate General of Health Services, since last March 15, symptoms of measles have appeared among 49,159 children so far. Among them, 34,909 children have been admitted to hospitals. Of them, measles was confirmed in 6,819 people. And the number of patients released from hospitals is 30,862. Health experts say that under the ongoing situation, strengthening surveillance, vaccination activities, and emergency measures in high-risk areas have become extremely important to control the infection.
